The California Education Code 49423 provides for any pupil who is required to take, during the regular school day, medication prescribed for them by a physician provided the school district receives:

1. An authorization form for all prescribed or over the counter medications must be completed by the physician, signed by the parent and filed in the school office.
2. Medication must be in the original Rx container and clearly labeled by the physician or pharmacy with the following information: Student’s name, Physician’s name, Name of medication, directions for use
3. Over the counter medications must be in a new sealed container.

If your student contracts the following conditions they may be excluded from school until the condition has been treated and they are symptom-free: 

• Chickenpox
• Conjunctivitis (pinkeye)
• Hand, foot, mouth disease
• Impetigo
• Measles
• Pediculosis (active head lice)
• Ringworm
• Scabies
• Strep throat

If your child has vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever, please keep them home until they have been symptom and fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
